“Anyone who has spent any length of time in FSJ has a story.

One of those weird, you had to be there, kind of tales.

Locals who are born & raised often have the best ones.

We are collecting your anonymous stories for an archival art project.

We want your weirdest, wildest, funniest, scariest, FSJ-iest stories you have!

We will take any story you have G-rated to R.

Please keep the locations in your stories but change the names to northern animals!

We also are going to be collecting high quality scans of scenic nature or street photos taken before 1999.

(We will add more information about this process with locations you can access scanners that we will pay for!)

  • Bears: Grizzly, Black Bears

  • Deer/Elk: Mule Deer, Black-tailed Deer, Elk

  • Bison: Wood Bison (a large, impressive species)

  • Sheep: Mountain Goats, Stone's Sheep, Dall's Sheep, Bighorn Sheep

  • Canids: Wolves, Coyotes, Red Fox, Arctic Fox

  • Cats: Cougars (Mountain Lions)

  • Moose: Shiras Moose, Alaska-Yukon Moose

  • Rodents: Beavers, Muskrats, Chipmunks (Least, Yellow-pine), Squirrels (American Red, Northern Flying)

  • Amphibians & Reptiles: Frogs, Toads, Snakes (Rattlesnakes, Garter Snakes), Turtles (Western Painted)
